Your slow cooker can be a lifesaver during holiday meals when sweet potatoes are a must and the oven is stuffed with turkey or ham and other fixings.
Slow-Cooker Sweet Potatoes with Applesauce

Ingredients
- 3 to 4 medium sweet potatoes (2 lb), peeled and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
- 1 1/2 cups applesauce
- 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts, toasted
Instructions

Step1Place sweet potatoes in 2- to 3 1/2-quart slow cooker. Mix remaining ingredients except nuts; spoon over potatoes.

Step2Cover and cook on low heat setting 6 to 8 hours or until potatoes are very tender.

Step3Sprinkle with nuts. This recipe was tested in slow cookers with heating elements in the side and bottom of the cooker, not in cookers that stand only on a heated base. For slow cookers with just a heated base, follow the manufacturer’s directions for layering ingredients and choosing a temperature.
