Try this hearty, satisfyingly spicy slow-cooker chili when you want a meal that's sure to warm you up. To save you time in the kitchen, use 3 cups thawed Make-Ahead Seasoned Ground Beef and Sausage in place of the ground beef, sausage and onion. Prepare for a bowlful of the best spicy chili you've ever had!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 1/2 lb bulk Italian pork sausage
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
  • 1 can (28 oz) whole tomatoes, undrained, cut up
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
  • 1 can (15 oz) spicy chili beans, undrained
  • 1 can (15 oz) Progresso™ chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained, rinsed
  • Sour cream, if desired
  • Sliced green onions, if desired

Instructions

    In 10-inch skillet, cook beef, sausage and onion over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef and sausage are thoroughly cooked; drain.

    Spray 3- to 4-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. In cooker, mix beef mixture and remaining ingredients except sour cream and green onions.

    Cover; cook on Low heat setting 7 to 8 hours. Top individual servings with sour cream and green onions.
