These BLT-inspired burgers are sure to be a hit at any backyard barbecue.

BLT Bacon Burgers

Ingredients

Burgers

  • 2 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 6 slices bacon, crisply cooked and crumbled
  • 4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Cooking spray or vegetable oil

Toppings and Buns

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
  • 6 burger buns
  • 6 lettuce leaves
  • 6 to 12 slices crisply cooked bacon
  • 1 medium ripe avocado, pitted, peeled and sliced
  • 1 to 2 medium tomatoes, sliced

Instructions

    Heat charcoal or gas grill. In medium bowl, mix all burger ingredients except cooking spray. Shape mixture into 6 patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Spray patties with cooking spray, or lightly brush with oil.

    Place patties on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 11 to 13 minutes, turning once, until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F.

    Spread 1 tablespoon mayonnaise on bottom of each burger bun. Top each with lettuce, bacon, burger, avocado, tomato slice and bun top.
