8 Festive Green Foods for St. Patrick's Day

Created February 28, 2023
It's the season for all things green and St. Patrick’s Day themed! We’re here to celebrate with some of Betty’s favorite spring-inspired meals that will get everyone in the kitchen making some tasty (green) memories! Time to put on some Irish music, grab your favorite people and go-to cooking utensils, and let the shenanigans begin.

Every Green Detail Matters

Now, before we whisk you away into the kitchen, take time to decide whether there are any décor or crafts you'd like to create to green-ify your house! Big or small, these details are so important, and will make a memorable experience for you and the kiddos.

Remember, the theme here is all things green — and Betty, this is where that creative mind of yours is going to shine while also making memories with your little ones. Here are a few inspirational crafts everyone will have so much fun making: clover garland, green streamers, leprechaun cutouts, balloons, themed plates and napkins — the list goes on.

A Very Betty Green-Themed Menu

Now on to our favorite part — the green-themed menu! Our carefully selected sweet and savory spring meals are sure to elevate your next St. Patrick's Day! Tip: For those in-a-pinch, make-it-green recipes, have some Betty Crocker Food Colors on hand.

Everyone to the Kitchen

Once you’ve mastered the menu, next up is assigning tasks to your helpers! For the littlest of hands, we recommend having them stir or add the ingredients. Tip: Don’t be afraid of a little spillage or mess. It’s part of the fun and can always be cleaned up. Have the older kids (or ones you feel comfortable with) chop the ingredients (supervised, of course).

It’s all hands on deck for dessert decorating and plating. This is arguably everyone’s favorite step, so make sure you involve everyone. We recommend setting your kitchen up in a station-like way. This will help keep things organized.

Finally, a good time never started with silence. This is a great job for kids of any age. Before you start prepping the kitchen, have them select their favorite songs and sprinkle in some festive St. Patrick’s Day musts. Bonus if they can make it a green-themed playlist!

It's Easy Being Green

We’re lucky to have Bettys like you! We’d love to see your festive setup and hear about any ideas you and your kiddos came up with along the way. Share all your food pics and tips with us @BettyCrocker, and remember that everyone is Irish today (or whenever you celebrate).
