More About This Recipe

  • No party is complete without games. Here are some fun activities that will make your Cinco de Mayo a memorable one. Nothing kills the mood at a get-together quite like awkward silence. That's why having games and activities planned is a must. Here are some festive ways to get the party started. Everyone loves a pinata – I mean, what's not to love about smashing something to pieces and watching candy fly out? You can even put an old-school spin on it by filling it with stuff from back in the day: Pop rocks, wax lips and Garbage Pail Kids cards can turn any pinata into an awesome time capsule. Drinking games are always fun, and there are options for those of us who are a little too old for Beer Pong and Flip Cup. For this one, you might need to get some shot glasses ready: Choose a phrase that is bound to be uttered may times – it can be as obvious as 'Cinco de Mayo' or as obscure as an inside joke – and set the rule that anyone who says the phrase needs to take a shot of their – or the host's – choice. You can also play this game with Margarita Slush instead of shots, just don't make anyone chug a whole glass. Some may be intimidated by the idea of a dance-off, but once libations start flowing, everyone will want to battle it out with a partner to their favorite Enrique Iglesias or Santana song. Once everyone's sweated it out, they're going to be hungry. Have lots of delicious party food on hand!
