One of our favorite outings during the summer months is a trip to the local zoo! Because the zoo is a special treat for us, I like to make the day even more magical with some cute animal-themed lunchboxes. Not only does this save me money in the long run (those park vendors really break the bank!) it's also a much healthier choice to pack your own grub.

To make this zoo-ready lunch, all you need are a couple animal cupcake food picks and alphabet cookie cutters. Top your kiddo's favorite sandwich with some cheese letters and you have yourself an instant smile-inducing sandwich! The Sistema's Lunch Cube to Go box leaves plenty of room for some crunchy veggies, Chex Mix and a roll of Fruit By The Foot.

Zoo-Themed Lunch

“Hey girls, where do you want to go first when we get to the zoo?” With my girls, the answer to this question is always “the monkey house!” Because my little monkeys love visiting the primates so much, I thought a cute monkey-inspired lunch would make their day! To make the sandwich, I used whole wheat bread for the base of the sandwich, white bread for the face details, a couple candy eyes and a mouth fashioned out of Betty Crocker™ Fruit Roll-Ups®. In the side compartments are some fresh cucumbers, juicy cantaloupe pieces and a pack of Nature Valley® Crunchy Peanut Butter Granola Bars.

Panda bears are also a main attraction for our family. Using a panda-shaped cookie cutter, I made a quick sandwich surrounded by some fresh fruit, veggies and a pack of Nature Valley® Oats 'n Honey Granola Bars. Quick, easy and cute!
