Before you get started on one or two of these delicious treats, it never hurts to brush up on a few cake-baking basics. Here are a few tips to get you well on your way:
- Make sure you use the pan size called for in the recipe. If your pan is too small, the cake may overflow in the oven while too big a pan could result in a flat cake.
- For best results use full-fat butter and not the reduced-fat or whipped variety.
- If you have one, placing your cake on a cooling rack to cool is optimal because it will allow the air to circulate the entire cake.
- The most common cupcake baking blunder is overfilling your cupcake liners. Be sure to allow room for your cupcakes to expand!
