Making stuffing outside of the turkey is simple and savory with this slow-cooker version of a Thanksgiving staple.
Slow Cooker Chorizo, Pecan and Cheddar Stuffing

What you’ll need:

  • Nonstick skillet
  • Slow Cooker
  • Mixing spoon

How to:

1. Cook sausage, onion and celery on stovetop over medium heat for 8-10 minutes.

2. Pour broth over ingredients in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low heat for about 3 hours.

3. Stir in cheese.

4. Add pecans.

5. Stir and serve! If you’re not ready to serve immediately, you can let the stuffing stay warm in your slow cooker for up to an hour.

Ingredients

    • 1pound chorizo sausage, casing removed and crumbled or 1 pound bulk chorizo sausage
    • 1large onion, chopped (1 cup)
    • 3medium celery stalks, sliced (1 1/2 cups)
    • 1package (16 ounces) seasoned cornbread stuffing crumbs (5 3/4 cups)
    • 1/3cup butter or margarine, melted
    • 1/2teaspoon rubbed sage
    • 1/4teaspoon pepper
    • 2cups Progresso™ chicken broth (from 32-ounce carton)
    • 1 1/2cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (6 ounces)
    • 1cup pecan halves, toasted

Directions

  • 1Cook sausage, onion and celery in 10-inch skillet over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sausage is no longer pink; drain.
  • 2Place sausage mixture, stuffing crumbs, butter, sage and pepper in 4- to 5-quart slow cooker. Pour broth over mixture; toss to combine. Cover and cook on Low heat setting 3 hours to 3 hours 30 minutes. Gently stir in cheese and pecans.
