I’m just going to go ahead and say it: These cookies may just be the best Christmas cookies yet. I mean, the only thing that could be better than a bowl of Chex Muddy Buddies are cookies made from Muddy Buddies, am I right? Whether you serve these at a holiday party or send them off as gifts, people will clamor for the recipe. Don’t blame me! They’re simply irresistible. (And fortunately, so easy to make.)
Here’s how to do it! To start, gather your ingredients, including a pouch of Betty Crocker peanut butter cookie mix and a bag of Chex Mix Muddy Buddies. These pantry staples get a little boost from extra chocolate, peanut butter and powdered sugar, also known as all the classic puppy chow ingredients.
Mix the cookie mix together, following the directions on the pouch.
Stir in 1 cup of Chex Mix Muddy Buddies.
Bake the cookies as directed.
While they bake, make the coating. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter.
Heat on high for 1 minute and then stir until smooth and combined.
Place the powdered sugar in another shallow bowl. Using a fork, dip the freshly baked cookie in chocolate, removing any excess. You may need to use a spoon to spread the chocolate evenly over the cookies.
Immediately dip the cookie into the powdered sugar and toss to coat completely.
Place the cookie back on cooling rack until chocolate is set, about 10 minutes. Repeat for all cookies. (FYI, these cookies store beautifully in a tightly sealed container for up to four days.)
Enjoy with some cold milk… obviously.
