Want to impress your friends? Make them their own mini layer cake! How cute are these? How perfect would these be for a baby shower, tea party, or a DIY wedding? All it took was some Betty Crocker cake mixes and frosting to make it happen.
Want to know a secret? They were really simple to make. No kidding, they were no harder than making a cupcake. The possibilities with these mini layer cakes are endless. I made a black and white version, but you could make any combination of colors and flavors to suit your event.
Ready to make your own mini layer cake? Here we go. Make the cake batter according to the package instructions.
I used a half sheet pan, they measure 18”x13”, you can get them at restaurant supply stores, online, and warehouse stores. I lined it parchment paper, and sprayed with cooking spray with flour.
Pour the batter into the sheet pan.
Spread the batter evenly using an offset spatula.
Bake in a 350° oven for 15 minutes. Let cool in the pan, and cut into circles using a 3-inch cookie cutter. I got about 18 circles per pan.
Spread a little bit of frosting onto the bottom layer. This is to help the cakes stick together.
Repeat until you have a stack of 4 cakes.
Pipe frosting on top and garnish with sprinkles.
