How to Make Easy Pineapple Upside-Down Cake Video

Sometimes we like doing things the old-fashioned way, but other times we’re finding you ways to cut some corners without sacrificing taste. This pineapple upside-down cake recipe hits all the nostalgic notes of the 1950s, but it comes together so easily with box yellow cake mix. The secret to a good upside-down cake is not to mess up the upside-down part! First, don’t skimp on the butter and sugar layer at the bottom of the pan. The fruit is placed carefully on top of that, and then the cake mix to ensure the cake doesn’t stick. If you’re doing this for the first time and aren’t sure how to get the cake out of the pan, run a knife around the edge of the cake right as it’s coming out of the oven. Then grab a platter that can handle the heat and place it on top of the cake pan upside-down. Using pot holders, flip the whole thing over so the platter is right side up on the counter and the cake pan is upside down on the platter. Let it rest for at least 5 minutes before you remove the pan to allow the cake enough time to settle. If there is any gooey caramel left in the pan after you take it off the cake, drizzle it over the top.
