Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
- 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 egg
- 1 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt

Step1Heat oven to 350°F.

Step2Spread oats and walnuts in ungreased jelly roll pan, 15 1/2x10 1/2x1 inch. Bake 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until light brown; cool.

Step3Mix brown sugar, butter, vanilla and egg in large bowl. Stir in oat mixture and remaining ingredients.

Step4Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Step5Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slighty; remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.
