Chunky Gingered Applesauce

Ingredients
- 4 medium unpeeled cooking apples, coarsely chopped (4 cups)
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped crystallized ginger
- 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, if desired
Instructions

Step1In 3-quart saucepan, mix all ingredients except cinnamon. Cover and heat to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer covered 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are soft.

Step2With spoon, crush apples to desired consistency. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Serve warm or cold.
