Blood Orange Cheesecake Bars

Updated January 11, 2024

Betty Maker Britney Brown-Chamberlain’s decadent Blood Orange Cheesecake Bars make the most of winter citrus! This zesty twist on Betty’s Cherry Cheesecake Bars is a great way to segue into winter baking after all those holiday treats.

Inspired by the sun-kissed glow of citrus season, Britney loves making citrus treats in January.  In this recipe, she makes a luscious blood orange curd instead of using cherries, and Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix creates the perfect buttery, crumbly crust. Each bite is a tantalizing contrast between the creamy richness of the filling and the sweet, vibrant citrus.

These Blood Orange Cheesecake Bars are a lovely way to brighten up a winter afternoon but can easily be made year-round with regular oranges if blood oranges are out of season or hard to find. These bars would be a delightful addition to baby or bridal showers, brunches or picnics, too.

Britney’s Tips

  • Add a few drops of red food coloring to the blood orange curd to bring out the deep red hues.
  • The cream cheese filling is no-bake, meaning it needs to set in the refrigerator. Be sure to allot at least 4 hours for the filling to set!
