Holiday Pumpkin Gingerbread Trifle

By Arlene Cummings
Created January 10, 2017
If you are looking for a new dessert this season, try my Holiday Pumpkin Gingerbread Trifle.

In my opinion, pumpkin pie can get boring year after year. For that reason, each year I try to make a new, fun dessert that I think everyone will love. I struck gold with my Holiday Pumpkin Gingerbread Trifle. It’s so good that I’m going to have to make it every year because everyone goes crazy over it!

If you like pumpkin and gingerbread, you will love this dessert. It’s so simple to make because the base is Betty Crocker® gingerbread cake mix. Canned pumpkin mixed with butterscotch pudding and a few other ingredients makes an amazing, luscious layer.

Besides being easy to make, this dessert is beautiful. With layers of spicy gingerbread, pumpkin-butterscotch mousse and whipped cream, the trifle is almost too pretty to eat! For added texture and spice, I even add some gingersnap cookies, which look great lining the top of the bowl.

The best part of this dessert is that it can be made a day or two in advance, so it’s a great dessert to bring to a dinner party. (And actually, it tastes better the next day!)

Why not try an alternative to humdrum pumpkin pie this year and make my Holiday Pumpkin Gingerbread Trifle? It may just become your new family tradition!
