I’m Barrett Radziun, an enthusiastic baker and content creator currently living in Dallas, TX. Though I’m a proud Minnesotan by birth, my love for baking and cooking began during my childhood, nurtured by two of my earliest mentors—my grandmothers, Mary and Dorothy. I have such fond memories of baking alongside them in their kitchens, where I learned that sharing food is a true expression of love.

Aside from my passion for baking, I’m a classically trained musician with a bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree in Vocal Performance. When I’m not baking, you can often find me singing or teaching my many students. I’m a faculty member at a university in the DFW area and also run a private voice and piano studio out of my home. Sharing my passion for music with my students brings me so much joy, and I love treating them to my homemade baked goods as well!

During the pandemic, like many others, I found myself teaching remotely and suddenly had extra time on my hands. That’s when I decided to take on the challenge of baking through every recipe in Claire Saffitz’s cookbook, Dessert Person. I chronicled all 105 recipes on my Instagram, @TheTenorChef, and connected with a community of like-minded bakers. Since then, I’ve continued to grow my Instagram and have started creating my own original recipes for my followers to enjoy!

My culinary inspirations extend beyond my grandmothers to the early 2000s Food Network stars. Ina Garten has always been a source of inspiration for me—I even recently hosted an Ina Garten-themed birthday party! Other influences include Claire Saffitz, Dorie Greenspan, Alison Roman, and Joy the Baker.

I’ve been a fan of Betty Crocker for as long as I can remember. My grandma Mary used her beautifully worn copy of the Betty Crocker cookbook for nearly every recipe she made, and I love drawing inspiration from those classic Betty Crocker recipes. Some of my favorite Betty products are the SuperMoist White Cake Mix and the Sugar Cookie Mix—staples in my kitchen!

“When I think about Betty Crocker, the first thing that comes to mind is comfort, nostalgia, and creativity. My first introduction to Betty was from my grandma, Mary. She would have us over for dinner probably once a week, and every recipe came from the Betty Crocker cookbook.”
