Fun and funky cocktail infusions are big these days. We even saw cake-flavored vodka the other day. Yum! We love giving new things a try. So after glancing in our fridge and seeing three leftover bacon slices, we decided to be mixologists for a day and create our very own bacon-infused vodka.
Think gift for dad or best friend–we bet they’d love it!
Here’s how you do it:
Cook up a few slices of bacon. You won’t actually need to use the bacon itself. We’re looking for the fat. So, go ahead and munch on the bacon...you might as well!
Drain the bacon fat and allow to cool for a few minutes.
Add some unflavored vodka to one or two mason jars and then add some of the bacon fat.
Here are some guideline:
1 (750 ml) bottle of vodka needs 2 tablespoons of bacon fat
1 (375 ml) bottle of vodka needs about 1 tablespoon of bacon fat
Screw on the lid and shake it up a bit.
Then leave at room temperature for about 6 hours.
After 6 hours, place the mason jars into the freezer for 30 minutes. This will freeze the bacon fat, but the alcohol won’t freeze.
Grab a mesh strainer and a coffee filter or cheesecloth; strain the vodka. The fat will be caught in the filter or cheesecloth, and the infused vodka will drip below.
Save the infused vodka in mason jars, or use a funnel and pour it back into its original bottle. If giving as a gift, buy another bottle and add your own label!
That’s it!
Ingredients

-
1bottle (750 ml) vodka
-
3pint-size mason jars with lids
-
4slices thick-sliced bacon
-
Mesh strainer
-
Cheesecloth or coffee filter
-
Funnel
Directions
-

2In 10-inch skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove bacon and reserve for another use. Reserve 2 tablespoons bacon drippings; discard any remaining drippings.
-
3Add 2 teaspoons drippings to vodka in each jar. Cover jars tightly with lid; shake well. Let stand at room temperature 6 hours.
-
4Place jars in freezer for 30 minutes. Line mesh strainer with cheesecloth; set strainer in large bowl. Strain vodka in strainer (any bacon drippings should remain in cheesecloth). Use funnel to pour strained vodka back into original bottle. Store in cool, dark location for up to 6 months.
