Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped (1/2 cup)
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped (1 teaspoon)
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ground mustard
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 slices lemon, seeds removed

Instructions

  • Step

    In 3-quart saucepan, heat butter over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook 8 to 9 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender.

    Stir in remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; simmer 30 minutes to blend flavors, stirring occasionally.

    Remove and discard lemon slices. Store covered in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks.
