Making mouthwatering chocolate fondue is easy with Betty Crocker® frosting. For dippers and toppings, there are endless possibilities!

Sometimes you need an easy but delicious recipe you can whip up for a special snack. Maybe you are entertaining your kids’ friends or want to have a dessert just for the little ones at your next family gathering.

With a tub of Betty Crocker® Rich and Creamy milk chocolate or vanilla frosting, you can create fondue in minutes. Kids love to dip and love to eat chocolate, so you can imagine how much fun they will have dipping things into chocolate! Place the frosting in ramekins and microwave 30 seconds to 1 minute or until the frosting melts. If you have a fondue pot, place the frosting in the pot and heat.

If you want to wow everyone at your fondue bar, bake up a cake using Betty Crocker® pound cake mix. Trim off the top and slice the cake horizontally into 3 slices. I used a flower cookie cutter and added a skewer to create a flower cake pop for dipping.

I have also baked mini cupcakes with Betty Crocker® French vanilla cake mix and skewered them.

Other fun dipping foods are marshmallows, pretzels, orange slices and strawberries.

For toppings, you could use sprinkles, chopped nuts and colored sanding sugar.

Ingredients

    • 1box (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Pound Cake Mix
    • 2/3cup water
    • 1/4cup butter, softened
    • 2eggs
    • Grated peel of 1 orange
    • 1tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Milk Chocolate Frosting or 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
    • 1cup pretzels and/or large marshmallows
    • 1cup fresh orange sections and/or strawberries
    • Assorted candy sprinkles, chopped nuts, colored sugars, as desired

Directions

  • 1Heat oven to 350°F. Generously grease 9x5-inch loaf pan with shortening; lightly flour.
  • 2In medium bowl, beat cake mix, water, butter, eggs and orange peel on low speed 30 seconds, then on medium speed 3 minutes (or beat 4 minutes by hand). Pour into pan.
  • 3Bake 22 to 25 minutes or until firm to the touch. Cool 10 minutes. Remove from pan; cool completely on cooling rack.
  • 4Cut top of cake to even out, and divide cake horizontally into 3 long slices. Using a cookie cutter, cut shapes out of loaf cake. To make fondue, place frosting in a ramekin, and microwave uncovered 30 seconds to 1 minute or until melted.
  • 5Place cake cutouts and remaining ingredients in small ramekins or containers on a platter around the fondue. Surround with napkins, wooden skewers for dipping and small plates.
