With the cooler months quickly approaching, I have soup on the mind. There's nothing better than sitting down to a warm bowl of soup for lunch when a chill is in the air. And since my husband and children easily get bored of the same old lunches, I often like to break up their lunchtime rut and pack them some delicious Progresso soup for lunch.
When packing soup for lunch, you'll need a good quality insulated food jar. In the morning when you are packing up lunch, heat up soup until piping-hot and the place directly into insulated container. Seal tightly, pack a side sandwich, salad or snack bar and you are set to go. Just don't forget the spoon!
My husband's favorite lunch is a classic soup-and-sandwich combo. For this lunch, I packed a deli sandwich, Progresso's Light Chicken Noodle soup, a Nature Valley Chewy Trail Mix Bar and some fresh grapes and kiwi.
Next up is my favorite: soup and salad. For me, it's the best of both worlds. You get the nice cool crunch of the salad, followed by a soul-warming cup of soup. The Rich & Hearty Tomato Florentine with Andouille Sausage pairs perfectly with this Spinach-Strawberry Salad. To add a little crunch to my lunch, I threw in some Green Giant Veggie Chips and a handful of almonds and raisins.
On the weekends, both of my daughters beg for grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch. Why not pack this weekend favorite during the week for a special lunch they'll love! Along with their favorite grilled cheese and Progresso's Heart Healthy Creamy Tomato with Basil soup, I added in some baby carrots and a mini LÄRABAR for dessert.
This lunch is a great way to recharge your little one’s afternoon. The energy packed fresh fruit and Banana Nut Cheerios® Energy Bar are a perfect match for a bowl of Progresso Rich & Hearty Lentil and Andouille Sausage.
Pair one of these delicious No Bake Dulce de Leche Snack Bars with some fresh fruit and a nice warm cup of Progresso's Rich & Hearty Beef Pot Roast and you have yourself simple, yet filling lunch.
What are your favorite sides to pair with soup? Are you a soup-and-sandwich lover or do you like salad on the side?
